Who is responsible

Local business census and research

Mourne Made maintains a research dataset of local businesses and organisations in Dundrum and Newcastle. This includes publicly available names, trading addresses, phone numbers, public website and social listings, and internal assessment notes. For sole traders and unincorporated partnerships, business contact information can constitute personal data.

The lawful basis for holding this information is legitimate interests: researching local independent trade, evaluating the online presence of the area, and publishing a dated public directory of trading businesses at /the-map/.

The directory names trading businesses and may show town, category, public address and phone, a website link when one is listed, and a map pin at the coordinates already on the public listing. It does not publish internal assessments, scores, pipeline notes, or outreach commentary. If you ask for your business to be removed, it is removed from the published directory and from outreach. We retain your name only in an unpublished suppression record so a later automated census scrape cannot re-add it.

Information collected

If you use the request form or email directly, the studio receives the details you provide: your name, email address, business or organisation, town, any public link you add, and your message. You do not have to provide a website link. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the form.

Vercel hosts the website and provides cookie-free Web Analytics. The analytics integration records page views and non-identifying events such as using a comparison or starting and submitting the request form. Mourne Made does not use analytics to build personal profiles or make automated decisions.

Why it is used

Contact details and messages are used to reply, prepare the free before-and-after you requested, discuss possible work, and keep a record of that conversation. The lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to a request you chose to make and running the studio responsibly. The information is not used for unrelated marketing and is not sold.

Aggregate website measurements are used to understand which public pages and interactions are useful, so the site and request path can be improved.

Who processes it

Request emails are handled through Google Gmail. The website and its analytics are provided by Vercel. These providers process information on Mourne Made’s behalf under their own security and data-transfer arrangements. Information is shared with another person or organisation only when needed to provide work you request, comply with the law, or protect legal rights.

How long it is kept

Enquiry emails and related project notes are kept for up to 12 months after the last contact, then deleted unless the conversation becomes paid work or a longer period is required for tax, accounting, dispute or legal records. Unsuccessful spam and abuse attempts may be retained briefly to protect the form.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for deletion or restriction where the law allows it, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email [email protected] to make a request.

If a privacy concern is not resolved, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
